Pain Points:

Pain points are any UX issues that frustrate the users and block them from getting what they need.

For example: if you expect a door to open, it should open. If it doesn’t, that’s a user pain point

example: have you ever gone on a company’s website to find their customer service info? You click tab after tab, scroll page after page, and still need help finding it. That is another example of this.

Pain points categories:

  • Financial Pain pointsare user problems related to money.
  • Product Pain points are usually quality issues related to the product.
  • Process pain points are frustrations that stop the user from going from point a to point b.
  • Support pain points when users interact with your product. They might have questions if they need help finding answers to their inquiries. Customer service information that’s hidden on a website falls into this category.

Empathy maps show us what the user thinks, says, does, and feels.

Empathy maps help us understand the user’s mindset and identify their pain points. We want to get to know our users, so designers create user personas.
